Van She 's idea of happiness no doubt revolves around banks and banks of old synthesizers with plenty of patch cords and cigarette-stained keys. Their second album, Idea of Happiness, is a synth lover's delight as each song is built around some of the nicest, fattest, squelchiest vintage tones around.7/

Tame Impala, Canyons and of course Van She. Seems they really have an act for picking talent over there. anyways, I really enjoyed VAN Shes last album but i felt they could be so much better. Didnt even realize they had a new album until i stumbled upon a new song "Jamaica" on youtube/5(11).

Idea of Happiness LP (12" album, 33 rpm) Has some soothing sounds in tracks like Coconuts, Radio Waves I and II, and some deeper tracks like You're My Rescue or Sarah. I have liked enough of Van She, but this album is thorough. It is much more energetic, heavier on /5(11).

Jul 11, · Great fun was had. Fast-forward, however, and like the terrible second CSS album Donkey, Van She’s follow-up to debut V is twee, light, knowing, polished and ersatz. Like Donkey there is also an admirable but horrendously misguided desire to experiment with tropical sounds, as on “Coconuts” and “Calypso”.

Van She’s Idea of Happiness is some tropical retreat, somewhere on a nondescript Caribbean Island, that is maybe based on Jamaica. Ironically the last song ‘We Move On’ is maybe the best song on the album.
